About North Nova Education Centre

North Nova is a grades 10 to 12 high school located on the edge of the New Glasgow town limits at 343 Park St. (See Map).

It was opened in 2003 with the amalgamation of three local high schools, East Pictou, New Glasgow and Trenton.  A gryphon carrying a sword is our school mascot which represents the three previous high school’s mascots, an Eagle, a Panther and a Trojan respectfully.  NNEC presently has four junior high feeder schools, East Pictou Middle School, New Glasgow Junior High, Thorburn Consolidated and Trenton Middle School which essentially makes up the eastern part of the county.

We host over 900 students and approximately 54 teachers with over 80 staff in total.  Our school motto is “Together We Can Make a Difference” and we are proud of the traditions and achievements we have already made in such a short period of time.  In addition to a strong academic program with a wide variety of courses to choose from, we have also become known for our excellence in the Fine Arts and Athletic programs.  In the “school info” drop down menu, you can see our course selection as well as samples of our Fine Arts and Athletics programs.

North Nova has become a popular destination for international exchange students as well as Rotary Exchange students from around the world.  We have hosted many students from Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, Italy and Korea, just to name a few.  Our welcome mat is out to students from all over the world.  We know you will love NNEC and Pictou County hospitality, which is warm all year long, unlike our winter outdoor temperatures.  So dress warm.
